Caldbeck Parish Council is asking all parishioners their views with regards to providing a safe accessible footpath between Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket. All parishioner households should receive a copy of the consultation document and each adult should receive a questionnaire. Copies of the consultation document and questionnaire are also attached to this page.
An open meeting will be held in Caldbeck Parish Hall on Monday 17th April at 7:30pm. It will be chaired by Mike Johnson our Cumberland Councillor and former leader of Allerdale Borough Council. This will be an opportunity for parishioners to discuss the various options and the Council to explain what would be required to action any of the options.
The questionnaire relates to three options:
Creation of a footpath beside the road between Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket
Upgrade of the existing Matthew Rudding footpath to make it more accessible.
Leave it as it currently is.
Completed questionnaires can be left at either the Caldbeck or Hesket Newmarket village stores, handed to the clerk at the open meeting, emailed to the clerk parishclerk@caldbeck.org.uk or posted to the clerk at Caldbeck Parish Clerk, Isel Mill Cottage, Isel, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 0QG. If you need your questionnaire collected contact the clerk on 01900 825367.
The questionnaires do ask for your name and address. This is so the clerk can confirm that people only respond once and that all responses are from people on the electoral roll. The clerk will be the only person to see the completed questionnaires and the results will be anonymised prior to publication.
The consultation will close on 2nd May 2023.
