“Memories of Christmas” at St Kentigern’s Church, Caldbeck

Friday 30 Nov – Sunday 2 December 2018

There were 27 Christmas trees and other exhibits decorating the Church

People came together from all over the Benefice to help with a host of activities: decoration of trees, making garlands and swags, preparing and serving refreshments, reciting monologues, singing songs and carols and delivering seasonal sketches.

The weekend was declared open by Rev Malcolm and Barbara Riches – wonderful to welcome them both back to Caldbeck. The festival enjoyed tremendous support from our community with so many people coming along to see the trees and other exhibits and decoration, and enjoying two nights of entertainment in the form of an excellent floral demonstration by Patti Dawson on the Friday evening, and The Caldbeck Players’ brilliant production of ‘Christmas Trees and Treats’ on Saturday evening. There was a special craft workshop for Children on the Saturday morning with 23 young people coming along. The weekend ended with Advent Praise on Sunday evening.

The PCC want to thank everyone involved. The atmosphere in Church was buzzing all weekend as we enjoyed seeing the magical trees and bumping into friends and family. It was a super way to start the Christmas festivities!

And the weekend raised over £3,600 for Church funds – a wonderful result!
