The 18th December was a damp evening but it did not deter three groups of Carol Singers. Two groups managed between them to sing to most houses in Caldbeck but did not reach Upton – we will get to you next year! The third group visited a number of farms.
Thank you very much for the very generous donations to all three groups of singers. We received the wonderful total of £495 – £90 more than last year. Either we sang better than usual or you took pity on us singing in the rain!
£165 has been sent to each of the Charities: Save the Children, NSPCC, and Action for Children (previously The National Children’s Home).
Thank you too to the Carol Singers. They were damp but in good heart and voice – and they thoroughly enjoyed the mince pies, teas and coffees so kindly provided at the Chapel to warm everyone up at the end. And this year of all years we particularly appreciated the laminated carol sheets that Beverley Noble organised for us a few years ago. I don’t know how we would have managed with the old paper sheets – we’d probably have had to sing one carol that we all knew by heart over and over again while the paper disintegrated in our hands! The laminated sheets were as clear at the end of the evening as at the beginning.
Why not look out for the Carol Singing date in November’s Parish Magazine and come and sing next Christmas? Let’s see if we can get four groups singing instead of three and reach even more of the parish.
