| The Northern Fells Group runs a community minibus for residents of seven parishes in the the Northern Fells:
Boltons, Caldbeck, Castle Sowerby, Ireby with Uldale, Mungrisdale, Sebergham & Welton, and Westward & Rosley. Click here for details. |

| Scheduled bus services are less predictable. An up-to-date bus timetable for Stagecoach and other regular services should be found by clicking here and entering Caldbeck or Hesket Newmarket. (Do not be discouraged by a message saying 'Page not found'!) |

| In Caldbeck most buses, particularly those going to or coming from Hesket Newmarket, stop outside the Post Office, but some don't. For example, the Saturday Caldbeck Rambler from Carlisle to Keswick shoots around the pub and can be hailed on the road between the pub and the Old Smithy or at the school. |

The nearest main line railway stations are Carlisle and Penrith. |

| Carlisle is on the west coast main line to London, Glasgow and Edinburgh, also with services to Newcatle upon Tyne and Settle. (The Carlisle - Settle journey is worth travelling for its own sake, even if you don't want to go to Settle.) |

| Penrith is on the west coast main line to London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The journey time to London is shorter than from Carlisle and Penrith station is more accessible. |
