Use
this form to enter the summary details about your news items.
In many cases the summary will be all that is necessary and
there will therefore be no onward link. If however, the news
items requires a page on its own, containing its own pictures
etc. you can define the hyperlink to go to that page from
the summary. If you enter an end date for the news item, then
the item will disappear from view when that date is reached.
All
dates should be entered in the format dd mmm yyyy.
Please also enter the Year of Entry as this will enable future
annual news summary listings.
News
Item Details. If you require your news item to have
it's own full page of detail information, then you must notify
the Moderator to request the generation of such a page. You
can usually leave the Link to Detail URL field blank and allow
this to be completed by the Moderator. If a link is entered,
then it should be the absolute - e.g. http://www.caldbeck.org.uk/news/detail/filename.cfm.
All that you have to do is the over-type the word filename.
All
News items require to be moderated. The initial entry will
therefore have a 'moderated flag' of 2, which means that it
will NOT display on the News list page. Only after the webmaster
or the moderator has reviewed the item and approved the item
will it appear on the main site. When an author has entered
a News Item, both the Webmaster and the Moderator will be
emailed.
All
News Item Authors MUST enter their name and email address
so that they can be contacted in the event of a query.
The
picture fields require ONLY the name of the image (including
the suffix - e.g. .jpg). All images MUST by stored in the
folder \images\news. They should be given a clear name so
that they can be easily found at a later date. For example,
an image called 123456.jpg is rather meaningless; a better
name would be, for example, stkentigern080408_150.jpg. This
contains both the date and the horizontal size in pixels. |
